Moffat County lies at the most Northwestern point of Colorado. The scenery is vast and remote and makes an ideal "get away from it all" vacation.
Moffat County was created on the 27th February 1911 and was named after a Colorado tycoon, David H Moffat, who died in the same year. Moffat County is home to Dinosaur National Monument which is located on the southeast flank of the Uinta Mountains.
Other interesting protected areas include Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge, Routt National Forest, White River National Forest and Yampa River State Forest. Moffat County benefits from warm summer days with cool nights and moderate winter days with cold nights. Moffat County is ideal for all types of winter sports such as cross-country skiing, snow mobiling, dog sledding, snow-shoeing and many others.
