Jackson County lies adjacent to Albany County and Carbon County in Wyoming and Larimer County, Grand County and Routt County in Colorado.

Jackson County is home to several State Parks, National Forests and National Wilderness Areas. These include Colorado State Forest, State Forest State Park, Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge, Routt National Forest, Mount Zirkel Wilderness, Never Summer Wilderness, Platte River Wilderness and Continental Divide National Scenic Trail
